Rice with spicy meat and seafood preparations is of major importance to the Khasi and Jaintia people. They raise goats, pigs, birds, ducks, and cows, which they enjoy eating. Two popular Khasi recipes are jadoh (a delicious meat dish with spices) and ki kpu (a savory fish curry). These two delicacies are enjoyed by all tribes within the states. Another favourite Garo dish is tungrymbai, made from bamboo shoots that are cooked down into a spicy curry-like meal.

    Q: What makes Meghalaya unique?
You might not be aware of this, but North-East India has seven sister states. One of them is Manipur. This state has terrain that boasts a rich natural endowment and spectacular scenery. People who visit these places often come back with stories they can't tell anyone else. And it's easy to see why: colossal mountains shrouded in mist, cascading waterfalls, and aerial roots that hang in the air... Take the plunge into this exhilarating landscape by exploring its capital, Imphal, which overflows with markets, temples, and fortresses. Only then will you realise how wonderfully strange North-East India truly is!
